An ice-cold glass of cold brew is my favorite way to start the morning. I have had an affinity for nitro cold brew for quite a while and occasionally treat my self to a bottle of it. This is the Lucky Jack Nitro Cold Brew Coffee and it is amazing. I first discovered it when I was looking for an iced cold brew to create a video project with. I was drawn in by the cool packaging and the label. After doing the video project I was yearning for some more so teaching my food photography class about lighting bottles and drinks was a great excuse to pick up another bottle.

This series of images was shot as a demo for the food photography class that I teach at Nossi. The week before in class we focused on a really technical way too shoot glass bottles. For this week I switched it up and had the class focus on drinks in a glass. I also had them switch up the lighting. We went from 5 light set ups down to a simple one light setup. Here we have 1 light camera left though Lee 216 diffusion. I chose to use an Aputure 300DII for this photo. I wanted to be able to shoot a burst of images real quickly to ensure that we got the pour in one take. I would typically use strobes and do a lot of takes. However as a demo I wanted to get the shot on the first try.

In the current times having some great simple setups is a good thing. We have the ability too shoot what could be a really big undertaking with a super minimal crew. I can create shots like this from my home by myself. We have a simple lighting setup, two simple surfaces and really minimal props. This allows the product to stand out and for the set to be simple.
