Last year I got a call to do a shoot for a specialty publication in Columbia, TN. I love working in small towns with small businesses. This call was to shoot an editorial at Briar Works. Briar Works is one of just a handful of custom pipe makers. It was fascinating getting to photograph the process of making a briar pipe. My Great-grandfather was a pipe smoker, and despite the fact that I only met him once or twice I still have some very vivid memories of the smell of his farm and of the pipe smoke. It was fun getting to spend the day in downtown Columbia, TN. It is great to see a small town reforming a great downtown business district. Check out the pictures below!

NASHVILLE MOCKTAILS

For the May issue of Nashville Lifestyles Magazine I was asked to photograph mocktails at some of Nashville's hottest bars. The magazine featured mocktails from Union Common, Husk, and Henley. The assignment was to capture vertical and horizontal images from each of the three restaurants. When photographing editorial content at bars I like to try and feature some of the unique attributes of the locations.

The Diner Nashville for Nashville Lifestyles

Last month I photographed The Diner Nashville for Nashville Lifestyles. It was a great shoot where I got to photograph some interiors and some food. The Diner Nashville is one of the few restaurants in Nashville's downtown core that is open 24 hours a day. This resturant will probably become my late night go to when I am on assignment late at night downtown. Keep reading to see more beautiful food photography!

Thoughts on Shooting Editorial from a shoot for Clarcor

For three years I worked as a product photographer for Saks 5th Avenue at the LaVergne, Tennessee Off 5th Avenue photo studio. It was one of the greatest experiences of my career so far. That said it was shooting in the studio every day on a white seamless background. When I left Saks I decided that I wanted to shoot more editorial. This shoot for Clarcor was one of my first editorial pieces after working at Saks. Editorial provides me an opportunity to get outside the studio, to meet new people and see some really cool places.
